Welcome Baby Kaiden! A newborn session in Cloverdale with Elizabeth Lang Photography.

What a joy it was to welcome baby Kaiden to the studio. This sweet boy is the second son for his proud mama, and his big brother came along full of energy and excitement to meet his new sibling. Watching that bond start to form is one of my favourite parts of photographing families who are welcoming another child.

Sibling sessions hold a special place in my heart. Over the years, I have seen how much parents treasure the images of their children together. When it is your first baby, the focus is on those tender moments between mom and baby. But as your family grows, the story shifts just a little. Your new baby is still the star of the day, but now there is also the incredible joy of seeing your older child step into their new role as big brother or big sister.

For families with young siblings, we always begin the session with sibling and family photos. This part of the session often takes about an hour, sometimes as much as half the session time. It gives us the chance to capture those precious first moments together while everyone is fresh and excited. After this, I usually suggest that dad take the older sibling out for a drive, a park visit, or even a stop for a treat. There are so many fun things to do right here in Cloverdale, from grabbing a snack at a local café to exploring one of the nearby playgrounds or green spaces. This gives mom the opportunity to relax while we focus entirely on the newborn, without having to divide our attention between keeping the older sibling safe and capturing those beautiful baby details.

Kaiden’s session was a perfect mix of lively family moments and serene newborn portraits. I know these images will be treasured for years to come, telling the story of a growing family and the beginning of a lifelong bond between two brothers.
