Maternity Photography Surrey
Maternity sessions can be booked early in your pregnancy with the aim of doing the session between 28-34 weeks. Studio sessions are done in Cloverdale and you may use as many outfits as you wish during your session. I have a variety of outfits and fabrics to create your session looks. FAQ
What is your age limit for newborns?
I do not have an age limit for newborn photography. I adjust my expectations for older babies but still aim to capture 1-2 fabrics and 1-3 props as well as sibling and parent poses. With older babies we expect and welcome more wakeful periods. I have had successful sessions with babies at 10 weeks as you would expect to have at 2 weeks of age.
Do I need to buy outfits for my newborn session?
Everything you need for your newborn photos will be provided. We have a selection of fabrics, props, outfits and accessories for newborn babies.
I am nervous in front of the camera and don't know how to pose, will this be an issue?
Everyone feels this way! It is awkward and uncomfortable to be photographed to start with. It is normal to feel anxious about the process but do not worry. I will set you up into a starting pose and help you move into flattering positions.
When are maternity photos done?
First pregnancy bump photos are usually done between 30-34 weeks when you are showing but not as uncomfortable as you would be later in pregnancy. If you are having multiples or this is your second pregnancy you can start showing earlier.
I'm worried my children won't behave, how do you handle this?
It is not uncommon for children to be disinterested in photos. I approach each session with patience and understanding to encourage natural interactions with family. I also suggest positive reinforcements to help encourage posed portraits. My goal is to capture traditional poses and natural moments. I always work for some smiles and end the session with a treat from my prize drawer so that children leave on a happy note and are happy to come back in the future.
What kind of gear do you use?
I shoot with the Canon R5 Mirrorless and have the Canon 5D Mark 4 as my backup camera. I use the Einstein lights for strobes and my go to lenses are 50mm, 35mm and 100mm.
Do I have to order prints through you?
You do not have to order prints through your gallery. You are free to order from any printer of your choice.
If I choose a smaller package can I add more photos if I change my mind?
Yes. Client's purchase the smallest package and can upgrade to a larger package if they would like to purchase more images after they receive their proofing gallery.
I would like some family photos do I need to decide how many beforehand?
At every session I aim to get photos of each parent with the child or children and both parents together. We will take a variety of family photos and photos of your child or baby alone. After you receive your proofing gallery you can choose which ones you would like to have edited.
Can I include my older children and myself in my newborn session?
Older siblings, parents and even grandparents are welcome to be included in your newborn or milestone photography sessions. You can choose which images you would like to have edited after you receive your proofing gallery.
Can two families come for a mini?
Mini sessions are shorter than a full session and can accommodate one family at a time. If you would like to have two families you can purchase two consecutive sessions.
