Emma is ONE | Blush & Neutral Cake Smash Session – Cloverdale Photographer

There is something so special about that first birthday milestone. One whole year of love, growth, and so many “firsts.” Celebrating with a cake smash session is such a fun and meaningful way to capture this moment, and Emma’s session was the perfect mix of soft, sweet, and timeless.
For Emma’s setup, we went with a beautiful neutral and blush pink theme. Keeping things simple and elegant allows your baby to truly be the focus, and this session did exactly that. The soft blush tones paired with neutrals created a dreamy, feminine look that will never go out of style.
We started with some classic portraits before bringing out the cake. Emma looked absolutely adorable surrounded by neutral balloons, soft textures, and the sweetest little pink bunny cut outs. These small details added just the right amount of personality while still keeping everything clean and cohesive. I personally love the muted and vintage inspired themes. For example you could do jungle or cowboy but keep it soft and subdued.
Then came the highlight… the cake!
Emma explored her pink cake with curiosity and just the right amount of mess. Some babies dive right in, others take their time—and that’s all part of the fun. Capturing those little reactions, tiny hands, and frosting-covered fingers is what makes cake smash sessions so memorable. I have a faux cake if you want to skip the mess or you can add a real cake for $25.
After the cake, we moved into one of my favourite parts of the session-the mini tub bath. Such a cute little prop to add to a cake smash.
We also included some family photos with mom and dad, which I always encourage during milestone sessions. These moments matter just as much- if not more. Your baby may be the star of the show, but these images tell the full story of this season in your life. Sometime parents are shy or hesitant to join in but I strongly encourage you to capture a few! You will appreciate these photos one day.
Emma’s session was such a perfect example of how simple, soft styling paired with genuine moments creates timeless images you’ll treasure forever.
If you’re thinking about booking a cake smash session, I recommend reaching out a couple of months in advance so we can plan your theme, colours, and all those special little details that make your session unique.
One year goes by so quickly-but these memories don’t have to fade.
