I recently photographed another beautiful family mini session in my Cloverdale studio. Michelle came in with her husband, their older daughter, and their younger son for a quick and fun family portrait session.



Mini sessions are a wonderful way for families to update their portraits in a short amount of time. In just 20 minutes we were able to capture a lovely variety of images for their family. We started with some classic family portraits with everyone together, then took some special photos of mom with her children. These “mom and the kids” images are always so meaningful and often become family favourites.

We also captured some portraits of the children together and individual photos of each child. Sibling photos are always a highlight because they show the personality and connection between brothers and sisters. Michelle’s daughter was wonderful with her younger brother and the two of them shared some really sweet moments during their photos.



For this session we used a simple neutral studio setup with a classic white background. Michelle chose to wear a pop of red, which added a lively and beautiful contrast to the neutral setting. I always love when families add a little colour to their outfits while still keeping the overall look simple and timeless.

One of the things I love most about these simple studio portraits is how they keep the focus on the people in the photo. With a clean background and soft lighting, the expressions, connections, and personalities of the family really shine through.


Family mini sessions are perfect for busy families who want updated portraits without committing to a longer session. In a short amount of time we can capture a range of images including full family portraits, sibling photos, parent and child images, and individual portraits of the kids.
