Mommy & Me Garden Minis 2025 – Summer Magic in the Cloverdale Garden
Surrey, BC | Elizabeth Lang Photography
There’s something incredibly special about photographing a mother with her children—especially when it happens in a garden full of life, colour, and sunlight. This summer, I had the pleasure of capturing Candice Rene from @thismamaloveslife and her beautiful trio during a Mommy & Me garden mini session right here in my Cloverdale studio’s front garden, nestled in the heart of Surrey.
Candice brought her three kids—her oldest son, her daughter, and her toddler with those classic scuffed knees and shoelaces forever untied. The garden was glowing in the late afternoon sun, and we embraced the dappled light as it filtered through the leaves. These weren’t just pretty pictures. These were real moments: swinging high on the garden swing, snuggling on my vintage couch, and sharing giggles among the tall ferns and blooming flowers.
This is now my second summer using my garden as a photo space, and it’s grown alongside the families I photograph. After debuting the space last year, I added two new garden beds and continued shaping it into something truly special. This year, we added tomatoes, extra raspberries, new flowers, and tucked in even more ferns up by the swing. It’s not just a backdrop—it’s part of the story.
I brought my vintage brown couch into the garden this season, and it’s become a favourite spot for cozy portraits. Candice’s session flowed so naturally—some shots of all four of them, some of just mama and each child—each one preserving the soft, real, fleeting magic that makes summer and motherhood so deeply meaningful.
If you’re in Surrey, Langley, or Cloverdale, I would love for you to join me for a Garden Mini in 2025. These sessions are short and sweet, just enough to capture the laughter, the connection, and the tiny moments you’ll never want to forget. Bring the kids as they are—shoelaces untied and knees a little dusty—and I’ll take care of the rest.
